- smith* — wildcard / prefix. The trailing word always prefix-matches, so smit finds SMITH in an owner name.
- "john smith" — quotes lock the phrase. Both words must appear adjacent, in order.
- Search by parcel ID (folio / strap) to find every certificate tied to a single parcel. Multi-word queries require all words to match by default; add * to relax trailing words.
